Behind every KIKARA bag is a person: a weaver who knows by feel when the tension is right, a dyer who can read colour in raw fibre, a finisher who decides a piece is ready. Their work is slow on purpose. It is the reason no two bags are exactly alike, and the reason each one carries something a factory cannot reproduce.

Preparing the fibre

Sisal is sorted, cleaned and dyed by hand before a single strand is woven. The colour is set here, long before the bag takes shape.

Weaving the form

Each bag is built row by row. A maker can spend days on one piece, holding the tension steady so the shape stays true.

Handles, linings and final checks happen within a community of makers who have shared this craft for generations.
